MacOS 8 and 9 have extended their support for dialup networking by providing the "Internet Setup Assistant" to their users. Launch the Internet Setup Assistant from the Assistants folder that was created when you installed Mac OS 8. Click the Update button to start the configuration process.

1) Panel 1 describes the information you will need to complete the configuration process. All of the needed information is provided in these instructions. Click the right arrow to continue.

2) Panel 2 allows you add a new configuration or modify an existing configuration. Select the Add Internet configuration option and click the right arrow to continue.

3) Panel 3 requests the name you would like to use for this configuration. Enter ERIECOAST in the space provided. You must also specify how you will connect to the Eriecoast service. Select the Modem option and click the right arrow to continue.

4) Panel 4 allows you to specify your modem information. Scroll through the choices and select the modem you are using. Specify the port to which your modem is connected. If you have a modem installed inside your computer, choose Internal Modem. You must also specify whether your telephone line uses Tone or Pulse dialing. Select the appropriate option and click the right arrow to continue.

5) Panel 5 requests the telephone number to use when accessing the Eriecoast service and the login name and password for your Eriecoast account. (See Availability for the correct phone number for you to use)

* ERIECOAST WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CHARGES INCURRED BY USING THESE TELEPHONE NUMBERS. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the call will be toll-free. If you are uncertain which number to dial, you should dial "0" and check with the telephone company operator.

Some of the phone numbers listed may be long distance to you. Eriecoast is not responsible for long distance charges for which your telephone company bills you. Please call Eriecoast Customer Service at (440)323-3844 to confirm which setting is correct if you are not sure.

Enter your Eriecoast login name in the space provided. You may enter your password in the space provided, however, by doing so anyone using your computer will be able to connect to the Eriecoast service without your assistance.
