Personal Web Page Policy

ERIECOAST will not allow web pages containing pornographic, racist content, or nudity of any type, and or pages for commercial use in the Members Pages web server.

Personal Web Page Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is the cost for posting a personal web page?
    Posting a personal web page is FREE with your membership to Eriecoast.
  2. How much space is allocated for my page?
    Space available is 5meg for the basic plan and 10meg for the premium plan. If you need to go over the alloted amount of space contact Eriecoast for the cost per meg.
  3. Does the page I post have to be a single page?
    No you can use as many pages as you want you just can't go over your web space limit.
  4. What should I use to publish web pages with?
    There are many software packages available on the internet to develop and post pages. Try your local software store for programs to develop and post pages.
  5. How often can you update or change your personal page?
    You can make changes/updates to your page as often as you like at your discretion.
  6. Are forms for getting input supportted in any way?
    Unfortunately, Eriecoast does not support your personal web page forms.

FTP Setup/Personal Web Page Posting

You do not have to send your page to us you can post directly to your personal web space directory.

(First time) Send an E-mail to webmaster@eriecoast.com and type "Request FTP access" in the subject field and include your Eriecoast username in the message. You should recieve confirmation by e-mail within 5 business days that you have been given FTP access.

  1. Create and save your web page in .html format.
  2. Name the first page "index.html"
  3. Upload your page to your directory with an FTP client.
  4. The directory to upload your page to is called (/usr/home/yourusername/public_html).
  5. For windows "XP" users, Open Internet Explorer.
  6. In the address bar type, "ftp://ftp.eriecoast.com"
  7. click "file", "login as".
  8. Type in your username and password.
  9. Access your FTP site like another folder on your computer.
  10. To view your page in the address bar type, "http://www.eriecoast.com/~your username"
