- Double-click on "My
Computer" that is located on your desktop. In the new screen,
double click on "Dial up Networking". You should see "Make
a new connection". Double click on that icon.
- The Dial up networking wizard
should pop up. Input "Connection to Eriecoast" for "Type
a name for the computer you are dialing."
- In this screen, input the
access numbers to Eriecoast. (numbers can be found on our availability
page) Click "Next".
ERIECOAST WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE
FOR ANY CHARGES INCURRED BY USING THESE NUMBERS. It is the customer's
responsibility to ensure that the call will be toll free. If you
are uncertain which number to dial, you should dial "0" and
check with the telephone company operator.
- Click on "Next".
Then in the next screen, click "finish". This should take
you back out to "Dial up networking", now with "Eriecoast" as
one of the icons.
- Right mouse click on the "Connection
to Eriecoast" icon and choose properties. Select the "server
types" tab and make sure "Enable software compression" and "TCP/IP" are
selected. Uncheck every other option.
- Press the "TCP/IP" settings
button. Make sure "Server assigned name server addresses" is
checked. Click "OK". Click "OK" again in order
to exit out of "Connection to Eriecoast" properties.
- Right click on "Connection
to Eriecoast" again and select "Create Shortcut"/ Windows
will immediately ask you "Windows cannot create a shortcut here,
would you like to place the shortcut on your desktop?" Click "YES".
- Close the "dial up networking" window.
Click on Start, then settings, then control panel. Once inside the
control panel, double click "Network". In the "Network" screen,
make sure IPX/SPX and NetBEUI do not exist. If they do, click on them
and hit "Remove". After you've done this, click "OK" and
exit out of "Control Panel". Restart your computer if Windows
prompts you to do so.
- On your desktop, double click "Shortcut
to Eriecoast". Input your username and password in the appropriate
fields. If you need help recovering your password, please contact our
support department.
- Finally, press "Connect" to
connect to the internet.
