Internet Service Providers CONFIGURATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR WINDOWS XP Please review the Terms of Service agreement (Eriecoast Policies) before proceeding with these setup instructions. A copy of this agreement will be provided upon request. You may terminate this agreement at any time by providing ERIECOAST with a written notice by United States mail. Notice of your termination will be effective upon receipt by ERIECOAST. When calling technical support, please have your account login name and password handy. |

| 1. Click on “START”and
look for the “Internet Explorer” Icon, click the right mouse
button on the “Internet Explorer ”icon. Left click on “Internet
Properties”:, A window titled “Internet Properties” will
appear on the screen. 2. Toward the top of the “Internet Properties” window, delete out anything typed in the “Home Page” box and replace it with “www.eriecoast.com”. Click on the “Apply”button. 3. At the top of the window, click on the tab titled “Connections”. You will see a “Setup”button. Click on this now. Note: If this computer hasn’t been previously set up to connect to the internet, you will see a window labeled “Location Information”. If you do not see this window, skip to step 5. 4. Enter the following information in the corresponding boxes:
5. The “New Connection Wizard” window will appear. Click “Next”to continue. 6. Network Connection Type: Select the top option - Connect to the Internet. Click “Next”to continue. 7. Getting Ready: Select the middle option - Set up my connection manually. Click “Next”to continue. 8. Internet Connection: Select the top option - Connect using a dial up modem. Click “Next”to continue. 9. ISP Name: Type in: ERIECOAST.COM Click “Next”to continue. 10. Phone Number: Type the number that corresponds to your area: Consult with the Availability page if you are unsure of the correct dial in number. (Note: it is up to you to make sure the number you are using to dial into Eriecoast is local to you) Note: If this computer has been set up with multiple users, a window labeled “Connection Availability” will appear. If you do not see this window, skip to step 12. 11. Create this connection for: Select the top option - Anyone’s use. Click “Next”to continue. Note: Selecting “Anyones use” will not allow unauthorized users to access your account. Anyone setting up an account for their use would still need the username and password. 12. Enter the following information in the corresponding boxes: There should also be checks in the boxes for “Use this account name....”and “make this the default internet connection”. You do not want to have a check in the box for “Turn on the Internet Connection Firewall For This Connection” if it gives you this option. Click “Next”to continue. 13. A window will come up with a “Finish”button. Click Finish. 14. Click on “START”and look for the “Internet Explorer” Icon, click the right mouse button on the “Internet Explorer ”icon. Left click on “Internet Properties”:, A window titled “Internet Properties” will appear on the screen. 15. Click on "Connection" tab at the top and select "Dial whenever a network connection is not present". 16. Click OK. Now your internet connection is ready to use. Note: This wizard sets up the internet connection only. For instructions on how to set up your E-Mail in Outlook Express please visit our window on E-mail set up found in our configuration page!
